SOIL CONDITIONS
Papaya need regular water because a lot of their water evapourates in hot weather. But, over watering will cause root rot, especially in cool and wet weather. Papaya need light sandy loam, moist and well-drained alkaline soil. Papaya trees will do wel with care in sandy soil, and rocky soil. Usaully they are planted by direct seedling. They need a lot of fertilizing such as strong and fresh manure or compost. It is best to keep the soil moist in hot weather and dry in cold weather. Roots will grow well where soil temperatures remain above 15.5C(60F).
